Amarillo -> Roswell -> Lordsburg

Dave kickstarted the day by swapping the now completely flat rear tyre on the Charger for the spare, while I tracked down a local Goodyear Tyre/Auto garage.

They patched up the hole in the tyre for like 12 bucks and sent us on our way, and I wouldnt be surprised if the other 3 tyres have a similar history. We're basically driving a time-bomb.

We navigated the time-bomb to our local Walmart and picked up a few cans of spraypaint and some other knick-knacks then headed a few miles west to Cadillac Ranch.

Cadillac Ranch is basically a big empty dirt paddock with 8 or so 1960's Cadillacs upended and buried in the ground. Visitors are invited to spraypaint all over them, so thats how we spent the next hour or so.

I only have the patience to upload a couple of photos because the computer I'm using has that whole stone-age thing going on, but suffice to say Cadillac Ranch was not the same when we left.

We tossed up having a 700oz steak for lunch, which is apparently an Amarillo specialty, but ended up grabbing some Maccas and heading south to Roswell so Dave could check out some UFO's or whatever. God what a sad town Roswell is. Everything and I mean everything has a little green spaceman painted on it. Even the streetlamps are shaped like alien heads with little squinty eyes painted on them. Its tragic.

The good news is that, to get their mind of the horrible gimmick that has overrun their hometown, the citizens of Roswell have taken to spending all day cruising the streets at 15mph in tricked out lowriders and very loud muscle-cars. Being so close to the Mexican border has really helped things in the auto-style department.

After Roswell we drove as far West as we could before bedtime, finally landing in the nondescript town of Lordsburg, where we will stay for the night before driving the DEVILS HIGHWAY and hopefully making it to the Grand Canyon.
