Daytooonnnaaaa

Ill make this brief because tghe Days Inn has terrible wifi and who knows when the screen on this thing will spontaneously flicker and die.

Today we drove from Richmond, VA to Daytona Beach FL. Look that up on Google Maps, its a long way. We were driving from 10:30am to about 1am the following day. We would have arrived earlier but we lost a couple of hours in Georgia because two police cars decided to drive down the I95, side by side with the lights on, doing 5 miles an hour, for absolutely no god damn reason at all. Wouldn't be surprised if they were regular cars dressed up like police cruisers, and those crazy Duke boys were behind the whole thing.

It is very easy to see why there is a culture surrounding the Great American Road Trip, they're so gosh darn easy to do over there. The highways are IN-CRED-I-BLE, minimum 3 lanes wide, the lanes themselves are huge, immaculate condition for the most part, and every 10 miles or so will uncover a massive dining/accomodation/fuel complex, easily the size of a couple of city blocks. And I'm serious about the 10 mile thing, theyre just everywhere, and significantly bigger than most of the actual residential people towns we drove through on our occasional forays off the beaten track.

The highways through Florida were amazing again. At around 11 oclock on our way out of Jacksonville there was barely any traffic, leaving these MASSIVE expanses of dead straight silky smooth 10 lane tarmac in front of you. I would have given someones right arm for a car with some more serious muscle, the roads practically beg for it. But cruising at 75mph with some pumping tunes was a quite zenlike experience, and miles just melted away. Really quite enjoying this trip.

I have managed to get a couple of pictures uploaded for those who need more than my masterful use of the written word;

^ heres dave on the rocky steps

^ here i am with the car

^ some dudes FD blowing hella smoke in Philly

^ neeeooowwwwww

^ some rad truck

^ we bought nascar shirts in case we needed to blend in with some locals

^ lots of this

^ this is all Georgia has to offer

Yeah Georgia is kind of a hole. For all intents and purposes it looks just the same as North and South Carolina, roughly the same density, same era of RV's and Motorhomes parked haphazardly around the place, but something about it is just shady. We didnt like Georgia.

The plan for tomorrow is to frolic on Daytona beach, then head north again. I dont think we can actually be bothered going all the way to Miami, but Daytona Beach should have most of Miamis attractions covered. Going to pretty much haul ass until Texas, then slow down and have some fun.

  3. you could tell it wasnt an 8 just by looking at it?

oh that sucks. we were hoping noone would find out.

yeah its only the 2.7 liter. Still gets the driving done comfortably, plus its easier on gas i guess, but donuts could be a problem

  4. Yeah, you got gipped - the wheels give it away. They come in the 2.7L V6, 3.5L High Output V6, 5.7L Hemi V8, and the 6.1L SRT Hemi V8. And if YOU had a V8 model there would have been gratuitous engine shots and at least one photo of a set of "11s" on the tar somewhere.....

Is it comfortable? I've never sat in one yet.
